Atletico Madrid is searching for a new sponsor for their stadium. The club is currently discussing the end of its sponsorship deal with Cívitas, which is currently associated with the Metropolitano name. The negotiations are expected to be concluded by summer, after which the stadium’s name will change, and Cívitas will no longer be included. This was reported by Mundo Deportivo.
Although Atletico and Cívitas have a good relationship, the club believes they can secure better terms from a new sponsor. In this context, Riyadh Air, the club's current main sponsor, is already exploring the possibility of expanding its sponsorship to include the stadium. The airline is offering an amount significantly higher than what Cívitas is currently paying.
Riyadh Air, which has a shirt sponsorship deal with Atletico until 2027 and pays 40 million euros annually, also aims to take a more prominent role. The airline, owned by the Saudi Arabian National Wealth Fund, is set to start operations no earlier than 2025 and plans to serve over 100 destinations by 2030.
