Girona, the surprise of the 2023-24 La Liga season, achieved a historic third-place finish with 81 points and secured their first-ever European qualification. However, they face a challenging season ahead after losing key players like Savinho, Aleix Garcia, Yan Couto, and Artem Dovbyk over the summer. Despite adding ten new signings, Girona's start to the season has been shaky, with a 1-1 draw against Real Betis followed by a heavy 3-0 loss to Atletico Madrid. They will look to turn things around in their first home game of the season, aiming to replicate their strong home form from last year.
Osasuna, now under Vicente Moreno after Jagoba Arrasate's departure, has started the season with a solid unbeaten run. Moreno, who had a short stint at Almeria before, has led Osasuna to a draw with Leganes and a 1-0 victory over Mallorca thanks to Ruben Garcia’s goal. As Moreno prepares for his first away game with Osasuna, he hopes to secure their first competitive win over Girona since June 2016.
