'Only one way back' - Marcus Rashford

Rashford has struggled at United since the beginning of last season. Having scored 17 Premier League goals in 2022-23, Rashford netted just seven last season, and has yet to register a goal contribution this term. As a result of his poor form, the 26-year-old was left out of England's Euro 2024 squad.
Rashford may well be targeting a return to the international fold under interim manager Lee Carsley but he was not included in his first squad, and Shearer believes he must look for a fresh start away from Old Trafford if he is to get back into the fold.
Shearer told Betfair: "In his current form, I don't see Marcus Rashford reviving his England career. I personally don’t know his mentality, or what his approach is in terms of training, but there's only one way back, which is to train and have the right attitude.
"But looking from the outside, for me, he should have left Man United to reignite his career because he's gone very static for whatever reason, and it hasn't worked for him for a while now. Only Marcus can answer how much he wants to get back to scoring 30 goals a season."
United are next in action against Southampton on September 14. They then face the start of their Carabao Cup campaign against Barnsley.
