Dodgers fan-favorite slugger could defect to Phillies in blockbuster signing

The Philadelphia Phillies have to change up the formula.
For the last two seasons, since Trea Turner signed on as the new superstar shortstop, the Phillies haven't made many drastic changes. Some marginal trade and free-agent acquisitions happened here and there, but the core of the team was intentionally left unaltered.
After a disappointing first-round playoff exit, though, it's become clear that the Phillies need some new blood. Specifically, the outfield stands out as a problem area for Philadelphia, as an aging Nick Castellanos is the only non-platoon player the Phillies have in the position group.
Juan Soto will be at the top of everyone's list this winter, but how about the corner outfield hitter who outdueled Soto's Yankees in the World Series? Teoscar Hernández of the Los Angeles Dodgers could look fantastic in the Phillies' cherry red pinstripes.
On Thursday, Zach Pressnell of Newsweek linked the Phillies to Hernández as a possible destination for the All-Star slugger.
"The Philadelphia Phillies have been rumored to have interest in just about every right-handed-hitting outfielder that's been available in the last few months. With Hernández hitting the open market, Philadelphia will absolutely be involved in his free-agency negotiations," Pressnell said.
"The belief in this should be strengthened after reports came out indicating that the Phillies could look to move right-handed outfielder Nick Castellanos this winter. Hernández would be the perfect replacement if they move him."
The 32-year-old Hernández blasted a career-high 33 home runs this season, to accompany 99 RBI, an .840 OPS/137 OPS+, and a Home Run Derby title. Regardless of whether or not Castellanos stays, he'd be the best-hitting outfielder the Phillies had on their roster.
Most projections have Hernández signing a three-year deal this winter for anywhere between $60-80 million. He's professed his desire to return to the Dodgers, but if the Phillies clear L.A.'s offer, there's certainly lots to be excited about when joining a team with Bryce Harper and a top-five pitching staff.
