Mario Hermoso's time at Bayer Leverkusen may have already come to an end.
The Spanish defender, on loan from Roma until June, suffered a serious shoulder injury during the Champions League clash with Bayern Munich and, according to reports in Germany, his season could be over.
According to Bild, the severity of the injury has not yet allowed for in-depth tests to be carried out, making it difficult to say for sure how long it will take to recover.
However, if the hypothesis of a lengthy spell on the sidelines is confirmed, Hermoso would no longer be on the Leverkusen pitch.
Such a scenario would also rule out the possibility of a buyout by the German club, who are unlikely to be able to afford the player's salary of over 3.5 million euros per season.
As Roma wait to see how the situation develops, Hermoso's future looks increasingly uncertain.
