Las Palmas' winless run against Real Sociedad was extended to eight games after a 3-1 defeat at the Estadio de Gran Canaria, leaving them firmly rooted in the relegation zone.
The hosts, who were winless in their previous 11 league games, got off to a nightmare start and conceded the opening goal after just five minutes.
Ander Barrenetxea created the danger when he drifted inside before unleashing a shot at Dinko Horkas, and the Croatian goalkeeper should have done better when he parried straight to the onrushing Mikel Oyarzabal, who bundled the ball into an empty net.
Despite the early setback, Las Palmas' response was impressive and they came close to equalising when Oli McBurnie was played through on goal, but the striker, without a LaLiga goal all season, looked unsafe in front of goal and lost the ball to Alex Remiro as he tried to round the keeper.
Fabio Silva led the way for the hosts with five first-half efforts, the last of which came on the stroke of half-time, but he hit the crossbar from close range.
Los Amarillos piled on the pressure after the restart, only to see their deficit doubled in the 56th minute when Barrenetxea broke down the left and his inch-perfect cross was glanced home by Sergio Gomez at the far post.
That left Las Palmas with a mountain to climb, but McBurnie began the climb when he finally broke his goalscoring duck, turning in from close range after Silva had weaved his way through the defence.
However, any hopes of a comeback were quickly dashed when La Real restored their two-goal lead just eight minutes after conceding.
Jon Aramburu took advantage of some sloppy defending to pounce on a loose ball and slot home his first goal for the club to put the game beyond Las Palmas.
The win keeps Sociedad's slim European hopes alive as they move to within six points of the top six. Las Palmas, meanwhile, remain without a win in 12 league games and are four points from safety with eight games remaining.
