Liverpool will try to lure England midfielder Adam Wharton, 21, away from Crystal Palace in a deal worth more than £50 million.

Wharton has established himself as one of the Premier League's most promising players since joining from hometown club Blackburn in 2024.

His ability to read the game and deliver quick balls to strikers marks him out as a future elite star.

Wharton, 21, could be interested in a return to his native North West, but the catch will be whether he gets enough game time to keep him on an upward trajectory.

He forced his way into England's Euro 2024 squad after joining Palace but has been frustrated by injury this season, missing three months following groin surgery in November.

If Liverpool can offer Wharton a deal - especially with Champions League football on the horizon - he may jump at the chance.

Palace, who are facing a flurry of interest in their players this summer, are sure to demand a huge fee for Wharton, who has more than four years left on his contract.

Bayern Munich and Real Madrid are also admirers, but Wharton has not played enough this season to make their interest concrete.

Wharton has been in fine form since his return from injury and has featured in every game since his return.

It is worth noting that Blackburn are also due a 15 per cent cut of the £18 million Palace paid in advance for their former academy star 15 months ago.
