Defending champions Inter Milan's Serie A title hopes suffered a major blow as they lost 1-0 at home to Roma on Sunday. Napoli moved three points clear at the top of Serie A after a 2-0 win over Torino later on Sunday.

The hosts, who were eliminated from the Coppa Italia on Wednesday with a 3-0 semifinal second leg defeat by AC Milan, endured their third loss in a week as their pursuit of a treble faces mounting challenges.

Inter Milan needs to regroup before the first leg of the Champions League semi-final against Barcelona on Wednesday. Currently, Inter Milan ranks second with 71 points, Napoli ranks first with 74 points, and Roma ranks sixth with 60 points.

Inter started strongly, with Davide Frattesi scoring but the goal disallowed for offside, and the hosts lost defender Benjamin Pavard early to injury, raising concerns ahead of the Barcelona match.

Roma goalkeeper Mile Svilar quickly cleared the ball with a header as Hakan Çalhanoglu chased a potential goal, and after Inter's initial push, the visitors gained control.

After Manu Koné shot wide from just outside the area, Roma took the lead in the 22nd minute.

Lorenzo Pellegrini's effort from outside the box was blocked in the area, but the ball fell to Matìas Soulè who scored from the edge of the six-yard box.

Minutes later, Roma had a chance to double their lead with Pellegrini crossing into the area, but Bryan Cristante shot wide from close range.

Roma pressed forward, and Inter defender Carlos Augusto made a sliding clearance from Angeliño's cross with Eldor Shomurodov poised to score at the back post, leaving Inter trailing at halftime with few threats.

Inter pushed aggressively in the second half, seeking an equalizer but lacking precision near goal.

Çalhanoglu shot just wide from distance, Denzel Dumfries had a header saved by Svilar, and Nicolò Barella fired wide from the edge of the six-yard box.

Roma, after defending against Inter's attacks, created chances to extend their lead, but Niccolò Pisilli shot wide when unmarked in the box, and Artem Dovbyk had an effort saved by Yann Sommer.

The visitors secured the win, extending their unbeaten league run to 18 games, while Inter suffered a second straight league loss following their 1-0 defeat to Bologna last Sunday.
