Despite being reduced to 10 men, Juventus moved into the top four of Serie A with a comfortable 2-0 win over bottom side Monza at the Allianz Stadium, their fourth successive win in all competitions and their seventh win in eight home league games (L1).

Juventus, who were beaten by Parma in midweek, needed just 11 minutes to get their top-four bid back on track thanks to an unstoppable long-range strike from Nicolas Gonzalez.

The Argentina international drove the length of the pitch before finding an angle and unleashing a left-footed shot past the outstretched Stefano Turati.

Not content with their opener, Juventus threatened a quick second when Randal Kolo Muani shot wide from a promising one-on-one opportunity.

The Frenchman made amends when he found himself in a similar position just after the half-hour mark, calmly slotting the ball into the far corner for his first goal since early February.

Juventus looked to have had the perfect first half, but were reduced to 10 men in stoppage time after a VAR review led to the dismissal of Kenan Yildiz for an elbow on Alessandro Bianco.

The Bianconeri may have been a man down, but they still threatened to extend their advantage when González forced a smart save from Turati in the opening 15 minutes of the second period.

Given their numerical advantage, it was unsurprising to see Monza dominate possession in the second half, but they struggled to convert their considerable possession into clear-cut chances, perhaps demonstrating why they are the second lowest scorers in the league.

Gianluca Caprari finally forced Michele Di Gregorio into action in the dying moments of the match, but in truth his weak header posed little threat to the Juventus shot-stopper, who helped the club to their 16th clean sheet of the Serie A season.

While Igor Tudor's side boosted their UEFA Champions League hopes, Monza remain bottom of the standings after suffering their 12th defeat in 14 league games, leaving them in danger of relegation at the end of the day.
