Empoli will travel to relegated Monza knowing that in Round 37 they could end up outside the bottom three or closer to missing out on Serie A qualification. The Azzurri go into Round 37 at the U-Power Stadium aware that if they get their sixth league win and good results in other games, a maximum point will put them in 17th place going into the penultimate round.

Monza picked up their first win since January’s 2-1 win over Fiorentina and ended a 15-match winless run in Serie A by beating Udinese in their last game. Scoring two goals for just the third time this year is certainly unusual for the Brianzoli, who are now aiming for their first consecutive Serie A wins since March 2024, when they beat Genoa 3-2 and followed that up with a 1-0 win over Cagliari. However, those aspirations are uncertain due to their recent record against this weekend’s visitors, who have failed to score in consecutive games.

Nonetheless, optimistic supporters will remember that both games were away games in Tuscany, while the two previous games in Lombardy both ended in wins for the Giallorossi. Alessandro Nesta's side are eager to win a third straight home victory over Empoli, who played without pressure and will now look to dent the Azzurri's relegation hopes.

The visitors, like Monza, ended a run of multiple games without a win in the last round, with a 2-1 home win over Parma to end a run of 20 top-flight defeats, the last of which they had topped out against Verona in December. That win was the last of the Tuscan side's away victories, and Roberto D'Aversa's side will be looking to add to their three away wins this season, which would be their first since 2025, heading into the final day buoyed by a relegation battle.

Second-to-last Empoli go into the penultimate round level on points with 18th-placed Lecce and one point behind 17th-placed Venezia. Lecce will host Torino and Venezia will travel to Cagliari, the top two teams in the standings, and if Empoli's relegation rivals suffer a Waterloo, then Empoli's victory will allow them to escape from the bottom three. Conversely, if Daversa's team wins consecutive league games for the first time in two years since beating Bologna and Salernitana in May 2023, they may fall further behind.

Monza predicted starting lineup:

Pizzinhaco; Forson, Palacios, Carbo, Birindelli, Ciurria, Bianco, Akpro, Kyriakopoulos; Petagna, Caprari

Empoli predicted starting lineup:

Vasquez; Golicidze, Ismagili, Vitti; Gyasi, Henderson, Grassi, Pezzella; Fazzini, Kacasse; Esposito
