Brentford travel to Wolves on the final day of the Premier League campaign in pursuit of a potential spot in the English Football League. Wolves were beaten at home to Crystal Palace earlier this week, and the Bees will be looking to respond after losing to west London rivals Fulham last time out.

After a run of six straight Premier League wins between mid-March and the end of April, Wolves’ form has taken a sharp dip as the top flight has come to an end, with three games so far in May without a point. The latest defeat for Rangers came at the jubilant home of FA Cup winners Crystal Palace on Tuesday night, with two goals from Eddie Nketiah, plus goals from Ben Chilwell and Wembley hero Eberechi Eze, helping the Europa League-bound side to a comfortable 4-2 win.

Jurgen Strand-Larsson scored a second-half goal at Selhurst Park earlier this week and continues to play for the Molineux club despite their recent struggles, with the tall Norwegian now having scored 14 Premier League goals this season, including seven since the start of March.

Vitor Pereira's side sit 16th in the league on home points, but Wolves have been impressive at their Black Country base of late, winning three of their last four games at the venue, including last month's clash with European champions Tottenham Hotspur. Strand-Larsson, who leads the club's Golden Boot race by one goal, will bid farewell to the club on Sunday afternoon, with the Brazil international set to move on this summer after being highly rated by the likes of Manchester United.

While Wolves are playing for honours in the West Midlands this weekend, Brentford still have a chance to achieve something extraordinary this season and could secure a league spot if the visitors on Sunday afternoon defeat Pereira's side in Matchday 38. The Bees are currently ninth in the Premier League table and would move up to eighth if they take maximum points at Molineux while Brighton & Hove Albion lose at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, where you can imagine the hosts enjoying their biggest win in 17 years. After an impressive run of four straight wins, Brentford missed out on qualifying for the quarter-finals last Sunday afternoon as second-half goals from Tom Cairney and Harry Wilson helped London neighbours Fulham to a 3-2 win at the Gtech Community Stadium.

Bryan Mbeumo and Yoane Wissa both scored in the last game against Fulham, taking their top-flight goals tally to 19 each, with the Brentford duo looking to become the first pair to score 20-plus goals for a single club in the Premier League since Liverpool's Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane in 2018-19. Thomas Frank's side should be confident of getting a positive result at Molineux this weekend, especially given their recent away form, which has seen Brentford pick up seven points from three games against Arsenal, Nottingham Forest and Ipswich.
