Barcelona forward Ansu Fati is in talks to join French side Monaco next season, according to ESPN.

Ansu Fati, 22, has made only three starts for Barça this season and will be permitted to leave the club this summer, despite his contract extending until 2027.

Monaco favors a loan deal with an option to make the transfer permanent in 2026, and the player is open to moving to the Ligue 1 club, which can offer Champions League football next season.

Barça coach Hansi Flick has stated he will not obstruct Fati's departure if he chooses to leave.

"He has a contract and it's his decision," Flick said during a news conference on Saturday when asked about Fati's future. "If he wants to discuss it with me, he can. For me, it's up to him."

Fati emerged as a star at 16 in 2019, but a series of serious injuries slowed his progress, resulting in a loan to Premier League side Brighton in 2023.

He returned to Barça last summer and was given another opportunity under Flick, but has struggled to secure regular playing time.

The club is now open to his exit, either on a permanent basis or temporarily, as they aim to create space in the squad for new attacking players.

ESPN reported earlier this week that Barça is interested in signing another winger, with Liverpool's Luis Díaz and Manchester United's Marcus Rashford on their shortlist.

"I won't comment on players not in my team, but both are excellent," Flick added when asked about interest in Díaz and Rashford. "I like them, and we'll see what develops. They're fantastic players.

"We're discussing this [signing a winger]. In recent matches, we lacked options there, so we need to add more choices and quality to the team.

"This is clear. It's a task for sporting director Deco, and I'll support him."

Under Flick, Barça has won three trophies this season— LaLiga, the Copa del Rey, and the Spanish Supercopa— and will conclude a successful campaign on Sunday against Athletic Club in their final league match.
