Looking to complete an incredible comeback and qualify for the Champions League, Roma travel to Torino in the final round of Serie A. Claudio Ranieri can cap off his illustrious career with a fourth-place finish in the league after saving his boyhood club from mediocrity, but other results on Sunday will have to go in their favour.
Roma have recovered from a nightmare start to the 2024-25 campaign - losing club legend Daniele De Rossi under Ivan Juric and then suffering a period of misfortune - and still qualify for the Champions League with one round remaining. A tense season finale is in store after AC Milan won 3-1 last week, fighting to the bitter end, with Gianluca Mancini opening the scoring before Milan were down to 10 men.
Juventus travel to relegation-threatened Venezia, one point ahead of Roma and two ahead of sixth-placed Lazio, so they are in a good position to take fourth place - but both Roma teams will be ready to take on them if Juventus slip up. If any of the three teams are tied after 38 games, goal difference and goals scored will be considered as the deciding factor. Juventus have a goal difference of +22, while Roma have +19, and they currently have one more goal than Roma; however, if the tie ends in a draw, fourth place will be decided by a dramatic coin toss.
Roma have been on a roll in 2025 under local hero Claudio Ranieri, but recently saw their 19-match unbeaten run snapped by Atalanta in Serie A, a defeat that could prove costly. Still, they have conceded just 11 goals since the turn of the year and have kept 10 clean sheets; whatever happens on Sunday, the 73-year-old could lead the capital club back to Europe for his third spell in charge. This is Ranieri's 501st and final game as Serie A manager - nearly 35 years after his top-flight debut - and it's bound to be an emotional moment, while qualifying for the Champions League for the first time in seven seasons would be the perfect end to his run.
Visitors Torino have won just one of their last 10 league games, including a 1-0 defeat at the Stadio Olimpico in October, and have little to play for going into their final Serie A game. With only one of their last eight games earning them maximum points, they are already out of the top half, as the Como club are already a commanding 10th. Paolo Vanoli's side appear to be thinking about summer action after a 1-0 defeat at Lecce last week, with just one goal in four games. While Torino won't want to help city rivals Juventus by beating Roma, they'll still want a result at home - another defeat could see them slip as low as 12th in the standings.
Torino predicted starting lineup:
Milinkovic-Savic; Dembele, Maripan, Masina, Biraghi; Ricci, Gineitis; Lazzaro, Vlasic, Geneitis; Adams
Roma predicted starting lineup:
Svilar; Celik, Mancini, Ndicca; Salemakers, Cristante, Cone, Angelino; Pisili, Sole; Shomurodov
