SV Werder Bremen's management has released head coach Ole Werner with immediate effect. This follows the football coach's decision not to extend his contract with the Green-Whites, which was set to expire on June 30, 2026.
"Since we need continuity and clarity for the future in the head coach position, we have decided to release Ole. This decision was also unanimously supported by the Supervisory Board," explains Clemens Fritz, Managing Director of Football.
The top priority for those in charge now is the search for a new head coach. "Our goal is to find a new coach in the short term with whom we can continue the successful development of the last three years, and whose playing philosophy and personality fit Werder," Clemens Fritz concludes.
In addition to Ole Werner, assistant coaches Patrick Kohlmann, Tom Cichon, and Hannes Drews will also be released from their duties. They also deserve a huge thank you for the work they have done for SV Werder Bremen.
