Al Nassr is keen to extend Cristiano Ronaldo's contract but faces competition for the Portuguese superstar's signature, according to the club's sporting director, Fernando Hierro, who spoke on Thursday.

Following the Saudi Pro League's season finale at Al-Fateh on Monday, the 40-year-old Ronaldo hinted that it might have been his last appearance for Al Nassr.

Speaking at a news conference on Thursday, Hierro said: "Ronaldo's contract with Al Nassr runs until June 30. We are working to renew his contract so he can continue with us, and several clubs are interested in signing him."

"We are negotiating with Cristiano Ronaldo to renew his contract. With God's will, we will find a solution."

Ronaldo finished as the top scorer in the Saudi Pro League for the second consecutive season. The former Real Madrid forward set a league record with 35 goals in his first full season at Al Nassr last year.

Recent reports indicate that Ronaldo has received an attractive offer from an unnamed Brazilian club, which could allow him to play in the upcoming Club World Cup.

As a five-time Ballon d'Or winner, Ronaldo joined the Saudi club in December 2022 after leaving Manchester United.

"Ronaldo's presence from the start is part of a national project," Hierro said. "Cristiano has brought soccer in this country to the global stage. It's remarkable that he had the courage to come here, stay, and elevate the Saudi Arabian league worldwide. This is an extraordinary milestone."

"Since his arrival, top-tier players have joined. He opened the doors. The leadership is doing an outstanding job, advancing the league. We are in discussions to renew his contract and hope he stays with us."
