Nikola Vucevic is one of the All-Star-level players in the NBA who has been linked to several teams over the past few weeks and months.
He serves as a cost-effective option for a star-level center and could be a valuable addition for any team seeking a versatile center.
Does a Vucevic-Gobert trade make sense?
Bailey Bassett of ClutchPoints has proposed this trade:
Chicago Bulls receive: Rudy Gobert
Minnesota Timberwolves receive: Nikola Vucevic, Lonzo Ball, and two second-round picks
The Timberwolves might need to move Gobert this season to strengthen their roster for next year, and this deal would add two impactful rotational players.
Gobert is not as strong a shooter as Vucevic, so the Timberwolves may reshuffle their roster to gain a better-shooting center, even if it means parting with a superior defender.
An underrated aspect of this trade is that Lonzo Ball could develop into a major role in Minnesota.
Ball's value is intriguing after his knee injuries sidelined him for multiple seasons, but he could share minutes at point guard if Mike Conley returns.
If Conley retires after next season, Ball might become the starting point guard and potentially offer more long-term value than Vucevic.
It's uncertain whether Chicago would pursue this deal given their current franchise situation, but if they do, Minnesota could become an exciting team to watch next season with these additions.
