Leicester City is potentially facing a significant points deduction for the upcoming season if found guilty of breaching Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR).

The club, known as the Foxes, was relegated to the Championship after a disappointing Premier League campaign.

They could start the 2024/25 season in the second tier at a disadvantage.

The Premier League issued charges last week, alleging a PSR breach exceeding £17 million over a three-year period.

Reports from iPaper indicate that Leicester could face a minimum 12-point penalty if found guilty.

EFL guidelines specify that 12 points should be deducted for such a breach.

Penalties may be adjusted on a sliding scale if the breach is under £15 million.

The Premier League is reportedly planning to argue for additional points deductions due to Leicester's failure to submit accounts on time in December.

A spokesperson stated earlier this month: "Following an Arbitration Tribunal’s decision on jurisdiction, Leicester City FC has been referred to an independent Commission for alleged breaches."

"This involves the EFL Championship Profit and Sustainability Rules (P&S Rules) for the 2023/24 season."

"It also covers the club’s obligation to provide its Annual Accounts to the Premier League by December 31, 2024."

"And the club’s duty to offer full, complete, and prompt assistance to the Premier League in response to inquiries."
