Philadelphia Union will enter the weekend without Quinn Sullivan, Andre Blake, Nathan Harriel, and Danley Jean Jacques, as they are on international duty.
Mikael Uhre may also be absent due to injury, along with Ian Glavinovich, so Tai Baribo is expected to lead the attack from the start after scoring a league-leading 13 MLS goals this season.
In Jacques's absence, Jovan Lukic should partner with Jesus Bueno in midfield, while Jakob Glesnes is likely to take Harriel's place in defense.
Dean Smith is set to field a similar Charlotte FC starting XI from their recent away win, although striker Patrick Agyemang and defender Tim Ream are on international duty, and Nathan Byrne and Nimfasha Berchimas remain sidelined due to injuries.
Without top scorer Agyemang, who scored against Toronto, Kerwin Vargas and Tyger Smalls will compete for an attacking role, while Wilfried Zaha, Pep Biel, and Liel Abada are expected to continue as a dangerous trio in a 4-2-3-1 formation.
Brandt Bronico should again join key player Ashley Westwood in defensive midfield, while Andrew Privett and Adilson Malanda will hold their positions in central defense.
Philadelphia Union possible starting lineup:
Rick; Westfield, Makhanya, Glesnes, Wagner; Bedoya, Bueno, Lukic, Bender; Donovan, Baribo
Charlotte FC possible starting lineup:
Bingham; Marshall-Rutty, Malanda, Privett, Doumbia; Westwood, Bronico; Abada, Biel, Zaha; Agyemang
