Because the Chinese national football team failed to advance to the fourth stage of the World Cup qualifiers, the Chinese Football Association unilaterally terminated its cooperation with Ivan according to the contract agreement. Ivan has left China as soon as the Chinese Football Association officially announced it.
Given that the East Asian Cup is about to start, who will command this event has become the focus of fans' attention recently. Live Bar exclusively learned that the former Chinese men's football U20 coach Djurjevic will temporarily serve as the fire-fighting coach of the national football team, and he will lead the team to compete in the East Asian Cup.
The 2025 East Asian Cup will be held in South Korea from July 7 to 16. The Chinese men's football team will play against the host South Korea in the first game on July 7, Japan in the second game, and Hong Kong, China in the third game.
Djurjevic previously served as the head coach of the Chinese men's football Asian Games team and led the team to the quarterfinals in the Hangzhou Asian Games. In January 2024, Djurjevic officially became the head coach of the Chinese men's football U19 team. The team won the Weinan Four Nations Tournament in June with 1-0 Vietnam, 0-0 Uzbekistan and 2-0 South Korea.
In February this year, the Chinese national youth team led by Djurjevic qualified for the U20 Asian Cup one round ahead of schedule. In the quarter-finals, the team was defeated 0-1 by Saudi Arabia, and missed the semi-finals and the World Youth Championship.
