Manchester United goalkeeper Andre Onana was dropped from Ruben Amorim's squad for their recent game against Newcastle after two significant errors in the UEFA Europa League quarter-final first leg against Lyon. Ruben Amorim has confirmed that Onana will start in the second leg at Old Trafford. Defender Harry Maguire has told TNT Sports that he is backing him to perform well on his return.
Manchester United defender Harry Maguire is supporting goalkeeper Andre Onana as he recovers from a challenging week, with Ruben Amorim’s team aiming to advance to the semi-finals of the UEFA Europa League.
The Cameroonian goalkeeper was omitted from United’s squad for their 4-1 defeat against Newcastle in the Premier League last weekend, following a poor performance in the first leg against Lyon in Europe.
Onana was at fault for both goals in the 2-2 draw in France, amid pre-match discussions involving Lyon and former United midfielder Nemanja Matic, who called him one of the worst goalkeepers in Manchester United's history.
Amorim has confirmed that Onana will return to the starting line-up for tonight’s quarter-final second leg at Old Trafford.
