West Ham United is training its star players to breathe more effectively using an innovative machine that boosts lung function.
Players like Jarrod Bowen and Lucas Paqueta are improving their endurance with the WellO2 device.
This gadget supports them in Premier League matches by combining resistance breathing with warm steam, strengthening respiratory muscles and moistening airways.
A high-tech mouthpiece, which connects to a phone, enables analysts to monitor performance and ensure athletes achieve up to 60 breaths per minute.
Richard Collinge, Director of Performance at West Ham United – whose fans famously sing 'I’m Forever Blowing Bubbles' – said: “This has been a valuable addition to our performance toolkit.
“The WellO2 breathing device has become an essential tool for players, helping clear airways and aiding recovery.”
The device, created by Finnish entrepreneur Aulis Kärkkäinen, is available online in the UK for £239 through Well Pharmacy.
Jamal Butt from WellO2 said: “Our simple yet effective device is designed to promote better breathing for all users.
“We are thrilled that it is now more accessible to people in the UK than ever before.”
