Celta's quest to qualify for next season's Europa League continues on Tuesday evening when they take on Real Sociedad at the Balaidos Stadium.
Celta currently sits seventh in the La Liga table, two points ahead of eighth-placed Rayo Vallecano, while Real Sociedad drops to 12th, with their hopes of qualifying for European football next season fading fast.
Real Sociedad will face Celta on Tuesday following a 4-0 defeat to Atletico Madrid, a result that saw Real Sociedad go five games winless in the Spanish top flight, dropping them to 12th in the standings. The Basque side still have a chance to win next season's European football tournament, currently four points behind eighth-placed Rayo Vallecano, who have qualified for the league play-offs. Meanwhile, Imanol Alguacil's side are six points behind seventh-placed Celta in the Europa League race, so a win on Tuesday night would give them a chance to compete for seventh place in the final.
Real Sociedad have struggled in La Liga this season, winning just 12 of their 35 games, losing 16 and scoring just 32 goals. It will be an interesting summer transfer window for Real Sociedad, with key player Martin Zubimendi almost certain to join Arsenal and head coach Alguacil set to leave, so the team will look to move in a new direction.
Celta last played in the Europa League in the 2016-17 season, where they reached the semi-finals but ultimately lost to Manchester United, and they will be looking to achieve more in the Europa League next season. This season, the Blues have been solid, with 14 wins, 7 draws and 14 losses in 35 games, earning 49 points and currently sitting seventh in the standings, two points ahead of eighth-placed Rayo Vallecano. Claudio Giraldes' side will be coming into this game after a 3-2 win over Sevilla, and they have been very good at home this season, with 36 points from 18 games, including 11 wins. Celta's performance away from home has been more difficult, with the team only ranking 17th in La Liga away record, with only 13 points from 17 games, a worrying record. Celta is aiming for a La Liga double over Real Sociedad, having won 2-0 earlier this season and the scoreline between the two teams was 1-1 in the corresponding games last season.

Celta predicted starting lineup:
