Liverpool have held discussions with Bayer Leverkusen's Jeremie Frimpong as they seek to replace Trent Alexander-Arnold this summer. The Dutchman has a release clause in his contract.
The Reds have held 'advanced talks' with the German club regarding the 21-year-old defender, who has a release clause in his contract. Frimpong's stock has risen in Germany, and the Reds are considering signing him in the summer.
Those at Anfield must fill the huge void left by Alexander-Arnold, who has allowed his contract to expire ahead of an imminent move to Real Madrid. Frimpong has excelled in a Leverkusen outfit that claimed the Bundesliga and German Cup double last term.
The 24-year-old, who can play as a conventional right-back or wing-back, is planning to leave the Bundesliga side this summer, a move that is facilitated by a release clause in his contract. According to Sky Germany, Liverpool could sign him for just under £30 million.
There had been talk of Conor Bradley replacing Alexander-Arnold as Liverpool's first-choice right-back, but it seems that they are looking to sign someone of a higher calibre to compete with the academy star.
Having been crowned champions in Arne Slot's debut year, Liverpool are expected to be active in the transfer market after making no major signings 12 months ago. The Reds need to add more depth, as their Dutch coach has had to work with a very small pool of players this term.
