Ronaldo joined the nine-time Saudi Pro League champions Al-Nassr in early 2023 following his fallout with Erik ten Hag at Manchester United. The five-time Ballon d'Or winner's move sparked an influx of high-profile players to Saudi Arabia that summer. Fans of the football icon had hoped this transfer would help him close the gap with his rival Lionel Messi in terms of trophies, but that has not happened.
Since Ronaldo's arrival at Al-Nassr, the club has failed to win any trophies and has remained far from contending for the Saudi Pro League title over the past two seasons. They have also not advanced deeply in the AFC Champions League, and the Saudi King's Cup has eluded them. While Al-Nassr did claim the Arab Club Champions Cup in 2023, it was not an official competition, leading fans of the nine-time SPL champions to turn against the Real Madrid legend.
In response to Ronaldo's post on X, one Al-Nassr fan stated: "We do not want you in the next game."
Another fan expressed frustration: "Go away, please. Al-Nassr doesn't want you."
A third fan commented: "You've achieved a lot in your history, yes, we know that. You have a history, yes, we know that, but you haven't done anything so far, and we know you won't offer us anything in the future, so please leave the club and go to Portugal, which you've always dreamed of. You'll enjoy it there."
And a fourth fan vented: "Bro, you’re holding Al-Nassr back, please retire, thank you."
Ronaldo's future at Al-Nassr is uncertain, as the Portugal captain has reportedly considered leaving the club. Al-Nassr's recent 9-0 victory without Ronaldo has led fans to speculate that the team might perform better without the Real Madrid legend.
