Chelsea confirm transfer of Dario Essugo, player to travel with team to Club World Cup

Chelsea have officially announced the signing of midfielder Dario Essugo in an £18m deal from Sporting.

The transfer was agreed in March, alongside the signing of winger Geovany Quenda, who will move to Stamford Bridge at the end of the 2025-26 campaign.

Essugo began his career at Sporting's academy and made his first-team debut in March 2021, becoming the club's youngest player in history. After gaining experience, he was loaned to Las Palmas for the 2024-25 season. He has established himself as a regular in Spain, scoring one goal in 27 matches.

He will join Chelsea for the Club World Cup and is expected to back up Moises Caicedo.
