Köln secured promotion to the Bundesliga on Sunday with a 4-0 victory over Kaiserslautern, ensuring they finished in first place in the second division.

The three-time Bundesliga champions scored twice in the first 29 minutes through Eric Martel and Luca Waldschmidt, effectively sealing the match early.

They added a third goal via Florian Kainz in the 76th minute, and Mark Uth scored three minutes before the end to confirm their return to the Bundesliga after last year's relegation.

Cologne will return to the top flight alongside already-promoted Hamburg SV, who lost 3-2 to Greuther Fuerth and finished with 59 points, two behind Cologne.

Elversberg, in third place, will enter a promotion/relegation playoff against Heidenheim, who ended in 16th in the Bundesliga.
