Real Madrid superstar Luka Modric is set to purchase a £1.1million house on the outskirts of Swansea, thrilling fans with the unexpected news.
The Ballon d'Or winner is acquiring a five-bedroom mansion in the Gower village of Three Crosses, as reported by SunSport.
At 39 years old, Modric was seen visiting the property, sparking excitement in the upscale neighborhood.
This development follows his announcement of leaving Real Madrid, with Swansea fans buzzing about his potential move to the Championship club.
One local resident commented: “It's rare to see a star like him in Swansea, so his visit was quite surprising.
“The house is wonderful, near the beach, and I'm confident he'll enjoy the Gower area and its restaurants.
“We might not have Madrid's nightlife, but our pubs are welcoming and will make him feel at home.”
Father-of-three Modric is buying the spacious mansion, which includes a pool table, from former Swansea footballer Leon Britton, who listed it in 2017.
Although Modric still owns a £10.1m home in Madrid, he has chosen to establish a base in the Welsh city after acquiring a minority stake in Swansea City, whose training ground is just a short drive away.
The former Tottenham midfielder was named a co-investor and part-owner of Swansea City last month, following his record-breaking career at Real Madrid, where he won six Champions Leagues, six Club World Cups, five European Super Cups, four LaLiga titles, two Spanish Cups, and five Spanish Super Cups.
Swansea City finished 11th in the Championship, and the involvement of the £56m-valued star—married to his agent, Vanja Bosnic—is expected to boost their chances of promotion to the Premier League.
In a club statement, Modric shared: “This is an exciting opportunity. Swansea has a strong identity, an incredible fanbase, and the drive to compete at the top level.
“Drawing from my high-level experience, I aim to support the club's growth and help build an inspiring future."
