Already-relegated Southampton became the first team to lose 30 times in a Premier League season after suffering a 2-1 defeat to Arsenal in the final match at St Mary's Stadium on Sunday.

Arsenal, who had already secured a spot in next season's Champions League following their 1-0 win over Newcastle United last weekend, achieved a third consecutive second-place finish in the Premier League. They ended the season 10 points behind champions Liverpool, with Southampton remaining at the bottom of the table.

Martin Odegaard, as a substitute, sealed the victory for Arsenal with a powerful strike in the 89th minute, after Southampton's Ross Stewart had equalized the visitors' opening goal.

Kieran Tierney scored the first goal for Arsenal in the 43rd minute, in his final appearance for the club, beating Southampton goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale with a shot set up by Ben White's cutback.
