Liverpool enjoyed a day of celebration as they brought the curtain down on their title-winning campaign. Mohamed Salah's late equaliser ensured they signed off with a draw against Crystal Palace at Anfield.

Salah's goal, scored six minutes from time, not only cemented his Golden Boot win, but also equalled the Premier League record for goal involvement, taking his tally to 29 goals and 18 assists.

Arne Slot's team had secured the Premier League title with a 5-1 victory over Tottenham on 27 April, meaning they were able to relax for the final few matches of the season.

Before kick-off, the Eagles players lined up to give the Premier League champions a guard of honour, and the Liverpool players then did likewise in a classy touch to honour Palace's FA Cup trophy win.

While there was certainly an expectation that the Reds would finish the season with a win, Palace had other ideas. Conor Bradley lost possession, allowing Tyrick Mitchell to set up Ismaila Sarr, who scored.

Liverpool had chances to equalise, but found Dean Henderson in inspired form. The Palace keeper superbly denied Luis Diaz in a one-on-one situation.

Trent Alexander-Arnold was introduced at the start of the second half. Having previously been booed by some supporters following the news of his departure from his hometown club this summer, this time there were cheers as he prepared to play his final 45 minutes for Liverpool.

However, almost half of that time was played with 10 men because Ryan Gravenberch — a key player in their title win — was sent off for bringing down Daichi Kamada when he was the last man just beyond the halfway line.

Nevertheless, the hosts finished strongly, and Salah ensured the campaign did not end in defeat when he scored from close range, prompting more celebrations from the Liverpool fans.
