Real Madrid has resumed negotiations with Liverpool for an early release of Trent Alexander-Arnold.
The Spanish club, eager to have the defender for the Club World Cup starting on June 15, must pay Liverpool to sign him before his contract ends on June 30.
Liverpool is not required to release Alexander-Arnold before the end of June, and Real cannot secure him early by simply offering to cover his wages.
Real Madrid made initial contact with Liverpool shortly after Alexander-Arnold announced his departure earlier this month.
They were told that a fee is necessary, leading them to return to the negotiating table.
