On playing his 100th match for the German national team against Portugal on Wednesday:

Kimmich: "100 national team games – that's obviously an official milestone and very special for me personally. Especially when you look back at my starting point, it makes me very proud, and I think I have every reason to be proud. Because these 100 games prove that over the past nine years, I've consistently performed at a high level and stayed healthy and fit."

On facing Cristiano Ronaldo in his 100th cap:

Kimmich: "Staying healthy and in good shape, and performing at such a high level continuously for over 20 years – I take my hat off to him. That is extremely rare. Apart from Ronaldo, only Messi has managed to do that over such a long period."
