New York Giants Could Replace Russell Wilson Mid-Season in Favor of Jaxson Dart

The New York Giants signed Russell Wilson to serve as their starting quarterback in 2025.

However, this does not guarantee he will remain the starter through the entire season for the team.

ESPN analyst Dan Graziano discussed this scenario in a recent article, describing the idea of starting Jaxson Dart over Wilson or Jameis Winston as a strong temptation.

Here is Graziano's full perspective:

"Each year, at least one team claims it wants to keep its rookie quarterback on the bench as long as possible, even for the whole season if needed. The Giants brought in Russell Wilson and Jameis Winston to ensure they have reliable veteran options while Dart develops into a ready NFL starter.

"Yet, this approach often fails. Last season, the Patriots started Jacoby Brissett and echoed similar sentiments, but their poor performance led to Drake Maye taking over in Week 6. If the Giants fail to score points and win games early, it seems likely they will eventually turn to Dart to assess his potential."

Wilson did not impress during his stint with Pittsburgh last season. In contrast, Winston was more productive as a passer for the Browns in 2024.

Ultimately, Dart represents the Giants' future. If the team falls out of contention, his opportunity may come sooner rather than later.

The Giants would likely retain their veterans to mentor Dart, but once it's his time to play, they cannot delay. He is the key to the team's brighter future.
