In the European Youth Championship between Spain U21 and Slovakia U21, Gerard Martin fell to the ground in the second minute of the game due to a wrist knock and showed obvious discomfort. Despite this, Martin still gritted his teeth and insisted on playing the first half, but because of the pain in his little finger, he couldn't even send a sideline ball, and finally asked to be replaced at halftime.
Martin will leave for Barcelona today to undergo surgery and leave the Spanish U21 training camp, which means that Martin's 2024/25 season will end early. This U21 European Youth Championship was originally a great stage for him to further demonstrate his strength.
Barcelona originally planned to wait until Martin finished his national team journey before deciding on his future. Now, under the influence of injuries, relevant decisions may be brought forward. Wolves have expressed strong interest in Martin, but have not yet submitted a formal offer.
Barcelona hopes to get a transfer fee of about 20 million euros by selling Martin. If the player is willing to leave the team, Barcelona is considering using Grimaldo to strengthen the left-back position.
