Tottenham Hotspur have appointed Thomas Frank as the club's new head coach, poaching him from his previous role at Brentford.
Spurs made the announcement on Thursday. The club were hopeful of naming Frank, aged 51, as Ange Postecoglou's successor, having also considered Fulham boss Marco Silva and Bournemouth's Andoni Iraola.
Postecoglou was sacked just 16 days after leading Spurs to Europa League glory in Bilbao, ending a 17-year wait for silverware with a 1-0 win over Manchester United.
"In Thomas we are appointing one of the most progressive and innovative head coaches within the game," a club statement said. "He has a proven track record in player and squad development and we look forward to him leading the team as we prepare for the season ahead."
Postecoglou's Europa League success was overshadowed by a dismal Premier League season, during which Tottenham suffered 22 defeats and finished 17th — their worst campaign since relegation in 1977.
Meanwhile, Frank has now moved across London after spending seven years at Brentford.
He now faces a completely different challenge at Tottenham, and getting off to a flying start will be crucial in winning over fans who felt that Postecoglou should have been offered another season in charge after winning a trophy.
Joining Frank at Spurs are Brentford assistant first-team coach Justin Cochrane, head of athletic performance Chris Haslam, first-team analyst Joe Newton and Andreas Georgson from Manchester United.
