Argentine forward Ángel Correa is set to leave Atlético de Madrid and join Tigres ahead of the 2025 Apertura season, according to a report from Fabrizio Romano.
The 2022 World Cup winner, 30, is closing out an eight-year stint with Atlético, where racked up 466 appearances, 88 goals, and 65 assists. Currently competing in the FIFA Club World Cup with the Spanish side, Correa could still add to those numbers - but his time in the red-and-white shirt is nearing its end.
Per Romano, Correa and Tigres reached a verbal agreement weeks ago on a five-year contract. However, final negotiations between the two clubs took longer than expected. Tigres reportedly made a definitive push in recent days, capitalizing on Atlético’s presence in North America for the Club World Cup.
The final offer is believed to include a fixed fee in the range of $7-8 million, with performance-related add-ons bringing the total package to under $10 million.
Correa already bid farewell to Atlético fans on Instagram following the club’s last LaLiga match.
He would become the fourth World Cup champion to wear Tigres colors in the club’s 65-year history.
