The Houston Astros are reuniting with a former player.

According to Chandler Rome of The Athletic, Jon Singleton has signed with the Astros.

This marks Singleton's third stint with the Houston organization.

Most recently, Singleton was with the New York Mets, who released him just a few days ago.

Once a top prospect for Houston, acquired via a trade with the Philadelphia Phillies, Singleton received a contract extension before his MLB debut.

His initial MLB appearance saw him batting below .200, followed by struggles with substance abuse and time in the Mexican league.

Singleton returned to MLB with the Milwaukee Brewers and later rejoined the Astros in 2023 and 2024. In 2024, he hit .234 with 13 home runs.

The Astros have Christian Walker as their first baseman, it seems.

Singleton participated in spring training with Houston before moving to the Mets.

This season at Triple-A Syracuse, Singleton has shown inconsistency: batting .213, with seven doubles, 12 home runs, and 42 RBIs. His OPS is .801.

Houston will assign Singleton to their Triple-A team, but his left-handed power could see him back in the majors soon.
