Ilkay Gündoğan scored twice and Erling Haaland added his first tournament goal from the penalty spot as Manchester City thrashed Al Ain 6-0 in their Club World Cup Group G match in Atlanta on Sunday night.
Man City dominated from the outset and were rewarded with a 3-0 lead at half-time.
They earned the first of their nine corner kicks in the eighth minute, with Bernardo Silva's delivery finding Gündoğan on the far side of the box. He chipped a lob shot that Eisa had no chance of saving, and the ball nestled in the corner of the net.
Echeverri's free kick in the 27^(th) minute came after a foul that earned Al Ain's Facundo Zabala a yellow card. He placed the shot into the top corner of the net, above Eisa's head.
Haaland had an equally easy time when he stepped up to take a penalty five minutes into the first half of stoppage time. He shot to his right as Eisa dived the wrong way.
The next flurry of goals began in the 73rd minute, when Gündoğan took a pass from Silva, split multiple defenders in the box, turned towards the net, and deposited the ball behind Eisa.
Bobb scored in the 84^(th) minute, and Cherki, who came on as a substitute for Silva to make his Man City debut, found the net in the 89^(th) minute with a one-timer from Haaland's pass.
The outcome of Group G will be decided by Thursday's showdown between Man City and Juventus in Orlando, Florida. Both teams have secured spots in the knockout stages after beating Al Ain (0–2–0, 0 points) from Abu Dhabi and Wydad AC from Morocco.
