Leganes are the reigning Segunda Division champions, with the team securing a return to this level for the first time since 2019-20, and their main focus for this season would therefore have been avoiding the drop.
El Lega are, perhaps not unexpectedly, involved in a relegation battle at this stage of proceedings, picking up 27 points from their 29 matches, which has left them in 18th spot in the table, level on points with 17th-placed Alaves.
Borja Jimenez's side will enter this match off the back of a 3-2 defeat to Real Madrid, which made it three straight reverses in Spain's top flight, and they have now been beaten in four of their last five games at this level.
Leganes have picked up 17 points from their 14 home league matches this season, and they will be welcoming an Osasuna outfit with only 10 points to show from their 14 games on their travels, recording just one win in the process.
El Lega are without a La Liga win over Osasuna since November 2016, but it was 1-1 in the reverse game earlier this season, and the visitors will also enter this match in disappointing form.
Indeed, Osasuna are without a win in Spain's top flight since the start of February, losing two of their last three, although they did draw 0-0 with Athletic Bilbao at San Mames last time out.
Vicente Moreno's side finished 11th in La Liga last season, but they are currently down in 14th spot in the table, boasting a record of seven wins, 13 draws and nine defeats to collect 34 points.
Osasuna have been the draw specialists in Spain's top flight this term, sharing the points on 13 occasions, and they have only suffered nine losses, which is one more than Real Betis in sixth.
Los Rojillos, as mentioned, have found it difficult on their travels this season, only winning one of their 14 away games, scoring just seven times in the process, but they have shared the points in exactly half of their league fixtures on their travels.
Leganes possible starting lineup:
Dmitrovic; Rosier, Gonzalez, Nastasic, J Hernandez; Neyou, Tapia; Cruz, Raba, El Haddadi; D Garcia
Osasuna possible starting lineup:
Fernandez; Areso, Boyomo, Catena, Herrando, Bretones; Ruben Garcia, Moncayola, Torro, Oroz; Budimir
