After securing a 1-0 win against AZ Alkmaar without a single shot on goal at the beginning of the month, Feyenoord delivered a stronger performance to defeat Fortuna Sittard away last week, thanks to a brace from Jakub Moder.
This victory marked Feyenoord's fifth consecutive league win, their longest unbeaten run since the end of last season between April and May.
Additionally, the result extended new manager Robin van Persie's record to five wins in six games since joining in Rotterdam, and a win here would make him the first Feyenoord manager to win six of his first seven league matches since Bert van Marwijk in 2007.
Given their dominant history in this fixture, van Persie is likely confident, as Feyenoord crushed PEC Zwolle 5-1 in the reverse match in August, extending their winning streak to nine games against the Zwolle side.
Feyenoord has also been formidable at home this season, remaining unbeaten in their last five matches (W4 D1 L0), with their two home defeats coming against strong teams like Utrecht and Ajax.
Meanwhile, PEC Zwolle dropped points from a winning position for the second consecutive game and the third time in four weeks, drawing 1-1 with Twente last weekend after Damian van der Haar scored midway through the second half.
They had previously lost a two-goal lead against Almere City earlier in the month and squandered a one-goal advantage away to Sparta before the international break.
Although Johnny Jansen's team is not in immediate relegation danger—sitting seven points above Willem II in the playoff spot—securing those lost points could have placed them in the top half of the table heading into this match.
All signs point to PEC Zwolle leaving empty-handed, as they have lost their last nine encounters with Feyenoord and won only one of their 14 away games this season.
Igor Paixao scored in their previous meeting and has been in fine form at home, netting four goals in his last five league matches at Stadion Feijenoord.
Feyenoord will be without several players due to injuries, including Thomas Beelen, Calvin Stengs, Bart Nieuwkoop, Justin Bijlow, and Jordan Lotomba.
Despite PEC Zwolle's challenges, Dylan Vente has shone brightly, scoring 13 goals this season, the third-highest in the league behind Sem Steijn and Troy Parrott.
The visitors are missing just two players: Tristan Gooijer and Samir Lagsir, both out for the rest of the season due to serious knee injuries.
Feyenoord possible starting lineup:
Wellenreuther; Read, Trauner, Hancko, Hartman; Zerrouki, Milambo, Moder; Moussa, Ueda, Paixao
PEC Zwolle possible starting lineup:
Schendelaar; Aertssen, Graves, McNulty, Floranus; El Azzouzi, Thomas; Krastev, Van den Berg, Namli; Vente
