After falling short in the Premier League title race this season, Manchester City is eager to embrace a fresh start by launching their new home kit for the 2025-26 season.

Although Pep Guardiola's team could still win a major trophy in the English FA Cup final against Crystal Palace on Saturday, following an early exit from the UEFA Champions League and potentially finishing over 20 points behind champions Liverpool, they are ready to leave the 2024-25 season behind.

Consequently, City is so excited about next season's kit that they will wear it at this summer's FIFA Club World Cup in the United States. The expanded tournament, held from June 14 to July 13 and featuring 32 teams, will see City play at least three group-stage matches: against Morocco's Wydad AC in Philadelphia on June 18, the UAE's Al-Ain in Atlanta on June 22, and Serie A giants Juventus in Orlando on June 26.

The key highlight of the jersey is the introduction of a sash, which has appeared occasionally on their away and third kits since the 1970s but is a first for their home shirt. Overlaid on a classic sky-blue base is a subtle white diagonal band resembling a feathery cirrus cloud, stretching from the left shoulder to the right hemline.

The shirt, as showcased by City stars including Phil Foden, Oscar Bobb, Alex Greenwood, and Erling Haaland, also features white accents on the sleeves and the back of the collar.

A two-color sash first debuted on City's alternate kits in the 1972-73 season and has seen periodic retro revivals through the 1990s, 2000s, and 2010s. One of the most notable recent versions was the 2009-2011 third shirt, with its white base and red-and-black sash.

If City emerges as reigning world champions, an achievement they first attained in 2023 under the previous smaller format of the Club World Cup, their new sash home kit could quickly become a fan favorite.
