Spain is managing without Ballon d'Or winner Rodri, who is building his fitness at Manchester City in preparation for the FIFA Club World Cup, while Barcelona's Ferran Torres is absent following surgery for appendicitis late last month.

The in-form Real Betis playmaker Isco is in contention for his first international appearance since 2019, while Gavi has returned to the senior squad for the first time since his 2023 cruciate ligament injury and will compete with Barcelona teammate Pedri, Martin Zubimendi, and PSG's Champions League winner Fabian Ruiz for a midfield starting spot.

Pau Cubarsi is back in the squad after missing the previous international break due to injury, and the 18-year-old center-back will push for a starting role over Real Madrid's new signing Dean Huijsen, while Yamal, Dani Olmo, and Nico Williams could support Mikel Oyarzabal in attack.

For France, up to seven players participated in the Champions League final, including Man of the Match Désiré Doué and Ballon d'Or contender Ousmane Dembélé, and it is unclear how this will influence Deschamps' starting lineup selections.

With the injured trio of Upamecano, William Saliba, and Jules Koundé unavailable, Benjamin Pavard and Malo Gusto will compete for the right-back position, while Deschamps must decide between Lucas Hernandez, Clément Lenglet, or the uncapped Loïc Badé as the left-sided center-back alongside Ibrahima Konaté.

Kylian Mbappé, just two goals from his 50th at the international level, is expected to start as captain in the attack, while Manchester City-linked attacker Rayan Cherki hopes to earn his first senior cap after an outstanding 2024-25 season with Lyon.

Spain possible starting lineup:

Simon; Porro, Cubarsi, Le Normand, Cucurella; Zubimendi, Pedri; Yamal, Olmo, N. Williams; Oyarzabal

France possible starting lineup:

Maignan; Pavard, Konate, L. Hernandez, Digne; Tchouameni, Kone, Rabiot; Olise, Kolo Muani, Mbappe
