Manchester City are closing in on a full agreement for AC Milan and the Netherlands international midfielder Tijjani Reijnders, reports Fabrizio Romano.

The versatile central midfielder has emerged as one of Manchester City’s top priorities to complete before the start of the upcoming FIFA Club World Cup, with chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak confirming the club’s intentions of moving fast in the market.

Current sporting director Txiki Begiristain is working hand-in-hand with Hugo Viana – who will replace the former following the summer’s tournament in the United States – and the duo expect to welcome three new names before the competition.

Alongside Tijjani Reijnders, there is also a concerted effort being made to bring in Wolverhampton Wanderers and Algeria international Rayan Ait-Nouri, who himself has already agreed to the idea of an Etihad Stadium switch.

Elsewhere and City are working around the clock to finalise a deal for Lyon’s Rayan Cherki, who has emerged as the number one priority for the attacking midfield position after transfer bosses at the Etihad withdrew interest in Bayer Leverkusen’s Florian Wirtz.

But new information has indicated that official announcements regarding new signings may not be too far away, with significant strides being taken to secure the services of Tijjani Reijnders this week.

That is according to the information of transfer market insider Fabrizio Romano, who reveals that Manchester City are now closing in on a deal for Reijnders with AC Milan, with the two clubs now in the process of completing an agreement before the Club World Cup.

Furthermore, it is revealed that the subject of personal terms between the 26-year-old central midfielder and City has been agreed and finalised.
