English referee Michael Oliver has been tasked to officiate the UEFA Nations League semi-final between France and Spain on Thursday in Stuttgart, UEFA has revealed.
Les Bleus will face the current holders and the Euro 2024 winners with a spot in Sunday’s final up for grabs. Should they get their revenge on Spain after the Euro 2024 semi-finals loss, France will either face Germany or Portugal. If not, they will face the losing side of the first semi-final.
Didier Deschamps can take positives from Oliver’s appointment, considering the Premier League referee officiated the Nations League quarter-finals second leg between France and Croatia. Les Bleus overturned a 2-0 deficit to win the tie on penalties. Stuart Burt and James Mainwaring will be the linemen on Thursday. Andrew Madley will be the fourth official. Jarred Gillett and Michael Salisbury will act as VAR and AVAR.
