Lisandro Martinez, Manchester United's defender, is eager to return to action as early as possible next season, showing strong progress in his recovery from a cruciate ligament injury that has kept him sidelined since early February.
Both Manchester United and Martinez are satisfied with his rehabilitation since undergoing surgery four months ago, and recent tests have confirmed that the 27-year-old has no tear in his meniscus.
Neither Martinez nor United will take any unnecessary risks in reintegrating him, and he will only return when he is fully content with his recovery and in peak physical condition.
The Argentina international is following an individual training program during the summer break and will work on the grass alone when the team returns for pre-season.
Head coach Ruben Amorim was highly impressed with Martinez before his injury in a 2-0 Premier League defeat to Crystal Palace at Old Trafford and sees the World Cup winner as a key pillar in the defense moving forward.
Martinez is regarded as a leader within the squad at Carrington, and his return next season will provide a significant boost, especially as the club actively strengthens the team after finishing 15th in the Premier League.
Despite interest from clubs in next season's Champions League monitoring his recovery, the defender remains committed to United.
United is pursuing a deal for Brentford's Bryan Mbeumo after securing Matheus Cunha from Wolves for £62.5 million, and Martinez's fitness clearance will feel like a new addition for Amorim.
