Chelsea has officially announced:
Chelsea is thrilled to confirm the transfer of defender Mamadou Sarr from Ligue 1 club RC Strasbourg, with the 19-year-old signing a contract that extends until 2033.
Sarr was a key player for Strasbourg during the 2024/25 season, playing a vital role in the team's qualification for European football next season.
The young defender made 28 appearances across all competitions and helped Strasbourg secure a spot in the UEFA Conference League play-offs for the upcoming season.
Sarr first demonstrated his potential in the RC Lens academy before moving to Lyon, where he progressed through the youth ranks and made his senior debut in the penultimate match of the 2022/23 season.
He earned two more senior appearances in the following campaign before undertaking a five-month loan at Belgian club RWD Molenbeek.
As a France Under-20 international, Sarr joined Strasbourg last August and quickly became a regular starter in defense, making 27 starts in Ligue 1 as the team finished seventh.
His talent has been recognized at the international level, with caps for various French youth teams, including the Under-20 side.
