Manchester United have submitted a second bid for Brentford's Bryan Mbeumo, exceeding £60 million.

The Red Devils had their initial £55 million offer rejected by Brentford for the Cameroon forward, who is also being pursued by his former manager Thomas Frank at Tottenham and by Newcastle.

The 25-year-old Mbeumo is seen as a prime summer target for Ruben Amorim, following Manchester United's low tally of just 44 goals in the Premier League last season.

Brentford is currently evaluating the increased offer, with ongoing discussions between the clubs after rejecting an earlier bid of £45 million plus £10 million in add-ons.

Mbeumo has one year remaining on his contract, and Manchester United aim to secure the attacker before the team returns to Carrington for pre-season training starting the week of July 7.

Amorim intends for Mbeumo to partner with Matheus Cunha, who has already joined from Wolves in a £62.5 million deal, to bolster the team's revamped attack.

Manchester United have also been presented with an opportunity to sign Chelsea striker Christopher Nkunku this summer.

The French forward was previously considered by Amorim in January as a temporary fix for the team's scoring issues.

In recent weeks, this option has been promoted again by Nkunku's current club and his representatives.

Chelsea are keen to sell him after outpacing Manchester United to sign Liam Delap earlier this summer.
