According to The Athletic, Jonny Evans is in advanced negotiations with Manchester United for a staff position.
The 37-year-old defender retired at the end of last season after his contract with United expired.
Manchester United wants to retain him and has reportedly reached an agreement for him to oversee the loans of emerging talents.
Les Parry, United's loans manager, left the club in November to take a position in Saudi Arabia, and Evans is expected to fill that vacancy.
Evans achieved three Premier League titles, two League Cups, a Champions League, and a Club World Cup during his first stint at United. He appeared in 241 matches and scored eight goals.
