Davide Ancelotti held recent talks with Rangers about their managerial vacancy in London last week and is eager for the Ibrox job, with further discussions scheduled in the coming days.

The Italian coach was approached by representatives of the Scottish Premiership club earlier this month and outlined his vision during an in-person meeting.

This is part of a series of conversations between Rangers and the 35-year-old, who has been assisting his father Carlo at Real Madrid.

The discussions reportedly went well, with Ancelotti as the top choice, and a resolution could be reached soon.

Players at Real Madrid, including 39-year-old midfielder Luka Modric, who is set to leave the club this summer and has not yet decided on his next move, are aware of Ancelotti's potential opportunity.

However, Rangers' ongoing takeover has delayed the process.

Current CEO Patrick Stewart, along with the existing Ibrox board, is leading the search, while the prospective new owners—an American consortium involving Andrew Cavenagh and 49ers Enterprises Global Football Group—and incoming sporting director Kevin Thelwell are also involved in the discussions.

It was previously thought that Ancelotti might join his father as coach of the Brazilian national team, but he is now focusing on becoming a head coach independently.

Ancelotti has previously served as an assistant under his father at Bayern Munich, Napoli, and Everton, and has playing experience at AC Milan and Borgomanero.
