According to ESPN, former Arsenal and Juventus midfielder Aaron Ramsey is poised to finalize a surprising transfer to Mexican side Pumas UNAM.
Aaron Ramsey, aged 34, concluded last season as interim manager of his hometown club Cardiff City, which was relegated from the Championship to League One.
ESPN sources indicate that Pumas are in advanced negotiations with Ramsey for a move to Mexico, where he would work under head coach Efrain Juarez, with a verbal agreement already secured.
Efrain Juarez has played a key role in this transfer, as both he and Ramsey are represented by the same agency.
Ramsey, who was a key member of the Wales team that reached the Euro 2016 semifinals and has earned 86 caps for his national team, has expressed his desire to continue his playing career and lead Wales at the World Cup next summer.
"There's a lot to play for and that World Cup is a massive carrot being dangled," Ramsey said in April.
Ramsey achieved three FA Cup victories with Arsenal and also won Serie A and the Coppa Italia during his two-year stint with Juventus in Italy.
