Los Angeles Lakers fans remain on edge, eagerly awaiting LeBron James's official announcement regarding his retirement.

Although James has not formally confirmed his return for a 23rd NBA season, his recent Instagram post strongly indicates his intent to continue playing.

"Man, it felt good to get back out there today for the first time since my MCL injury (almost 8 weeks ago)," James wrote on Monday. "Been at it with my rehab and training regimen to get back to form. Obviously not where I wanna be ultimately, but off to a good start."

"What a GREAT FEELING!! S/O my brother Kevin Love for allowing me to crash his workout! And also S/O Chris Brickley for always looking out when I'm in the city!"

It's unlikely that a player not planning another NBA season would publicly share details of recovering from a major lower-body injury, suggesting James is poised to play his 23rd year in the league.

At 40 years old, James's career prospects may not be as bright as before, yet the 21-time All-Star seems determined to team up with Luka Doncic for at least one more season and pursue a fifth NBA championship.

During the 2024-25 season, James was the Lakers' second-most productive player, averaging 24.4 points, 8.2 assists, and 7.8 rebounds per game with solid shooting efficiency.

A comeback to the NBA appears increasingly probable for James by late June.
